The Scunthorpe United CSET Education Programme was set up in 2012 to engage post-16 learners in Scunthorpe and the surrounding areas in education through the power of sport. Expanding at an impressive rate based within our Study Centre classroom based at Glanford Park Stadium. Our objectives are to: provide high quality, flexible and responsive courses that increase the participation of young people; develop pathways for progression enabling learners to further achieve qualifications and employment opportunities; enable learners to fulfil their potential through outstanding teaching, learning and assessment.

Our Results

Our results for 2014/15 were exceptional and we pride ourselves on achieving our headline statistics for success, retention and achievement all above the national averages compared to other education providers across the country.

  • As part of the EFL Trust remit each club is supported by a charitable trust which reaches out to the community – key areas include Participation, Social Inclusion, Health and Education utilising the power of football to engage learners in nationally recognised qualifications, based here at (Glanford Park) the Sands Venue Stadium.

  • All of our teachers are fully qualified and our coaches are qualified up to FA/UEFA standards. To accompany this, there is a vast array of experience in the team from a variety of backgrounds.

  • We are a training provider, with the qualifications on offer being nationally recognised and the progression routes wide reaching, just like Colleges we are inspected by OFSTED. The ‘extras’ we can offer by virtue of our link with the club mean learners can take advantage of opportunities that will further enhance their CV including work experience, peer mentoring and competitive sport.

  • Yes. The BTEC Level 3 is nationally recognised and is worth three ‘A levels’. A learner can achieve up to 420 UCAS points, a tally which is sufficient to meet the entry requirements to the vast majority of university degrees.

  • Yes. Your tutors are experienced in supporting learners with UCAS submissions and offering professional references to support an individual’s university application. Alongside support with applications, the staff are on hand to offer advice to students and parents alike on different courses and institutions of study.

  • The only cost for BTEC students is the purchase of the Scunthorpe United Kit pack. Learners are able to get a student travel pass which offers them reduced travel across North Lincolnshire.

    Students applying to the degree programme will be subject to further costs. Student finance will also be available.

  • Yes! Our Scholarship is there to support our qualifications and add to the learner experience. Participation in Trust events is based on a positive approach to studies and timely submission of assignments and class work.

  • Don’t worry, every learner who does not already have an A-C at GCSE in English and maths will study these subjects two hours per week at our funding partner North Lindsey College.

  • Yes. We like to keep parents and guardian’s up to date and send out quarterly student reports to update you on issues attendance, punctuality, attainment and behaviour, and are also willing to chat with any issues via telephone or face-to-face should parents wish.
